Napkin Sketch Stage App Reviews

Nice But

Neat app. Just needs more icons. Direct Boxes, various mic stands

Handy

It could have more icons, but for the price it works great and has really simplified my life. The production company I sent my plot to was satisfied. Thats all I care about.

Great start

The only thing I wish this app had is more icons for production, and instruments, and things like sub-mixers, racks, and at least the ability to drawn in more of your own generic objects. Also for some reason the text sizes go from 10-20pt, and one is often too big, and the other too small. Also was expecting more with the pro version. Not much really changed. No new icons, or anything really useful, only the ability to add your bands logo etc. Plus I am sure lighting techs would like to see a light truss at least... Other than these minor issues, I really like this app. I was able to draw out our stage setup in no time, including notes for engineers, and contact info for the band etc, vs. hours I would spend plotting it myself....

Not much value with stock items

Nice idea but pretty useless as it comes with very few useable items. As it sits the app should be free and then perhaps purchase of additional items might make it a value. Stick to napkins or use one of the free online stage plot sites.

The new elements are cool but expensive

Great app, I bought the pro version of 1.0 and now I bought the complete elements package. Got to say this is all but complete for me. Wish I could scale some things, like projection screen/s. And I wish for more people, I know, there are already tons. But I do give this release a big thumbs up, with a rating of five stars if and only if you buy all the elements.

Crashes often

iPhone version not so easy to navigate. Ive been using it about 30 minutes and it has crashed a lot. Going to try the iPad version and see if its more stable. Im using a 4S.

Expect to spend more.

Expect to spend more than $2 if you want this app to be remotely useful. All the good stuff is an additional purchase. I feel ripped off.

Decent

The iPad version is a bit more stable. You do have to buy the expansions to make it useful. Also, Im experiencing an issue where the app creates extra stage points that keep coming back no matter how many times I delete them. Kinda frustrating.

Cost more than $2

!!WARNING!! You will end up spending more than the $2.00 to purchase this app. Upon purchasing, there was another option to upgrade to the pro version for another $3.00 which made the total cost $5.00 for something you could draw on a piece of paper, take a picture of and text it to whomever needs it. I also went to add some special equipment pieces and was asked to spend yet another $2.00 for some little icon package that didnt offer much, making this app now $7.00. Im going to be contacting apple to get my money back, as I had no intention of paying more than $2.00 to utilize my iPad when I could just hand draw my stage plots. Dont spend your money on this app, and be sure to shop around for other alternatives.

Ripped off

Really? I have to spend more money for a few more instrument icons? Not worth it!

Horrible

I never write a new reviews for any of the applications that I buy. In this case I felt it was my duty to let everyone know How horrible this application is. I would rather go and buy a Starbucks Coffee than waste my money on this application

Nifty but needs work

This does a good job of basic stage plots. But there are not enough undo functions. When you switch from one page of instruments to the next you cannot undo or relocate previous additions. This is a serious oversight for a app that could be so useful on-the-fly. I have no issue with the in-app purchase cost, as long as the app is usable in pro and semi pro situations. If you cant afford ten bucks you probably shouldnt be in the audio biz.

Not recommended.

App comes with very limited stock icons. Additional icons must be purchased (no acoustic guitar icon? Really?) Also the icons are "cartoon like" in character. Not clear on a complex stage plot. Would not recommend.

Great Stage Creator - Start to Finish!!!

Very, very impressed with app. Purchased the upgrade and all the assorted people and instruments which was reasonable. Took a little time to learn how to work everything but wow it is a real dream come true. Needs a few additional instruments such as flute players and French horn players. Only draw back is you can not send the completed file. This is problematic since conductor can not work on file with asst. conductor. Due to complexity of some stage setups this means only one person will have to do all drawings and take recommendations from staff members instead of each and all working on the file. However, app creators are working on a file sharing version coming later. Great app guys!!!!

Cool app but!!!!

This is a very cool app. However, what they dont mention is that you really end up spending much more because the basic app has no icons!!! They should just raise the price and include everything so that people dont feel ripped off!!!

Good app if they kept up with updates and responded to customers who have issues with the app!!!!

Great app with the in app purchases but some of my stage plot files randomly disappear!!! I had to upgrade just so I could save the files as photos. Help! And when you try to contact the company, they dont respond. App crashes ALOT.

More cost within the app!

I cant believe I paid $2 for an app that asks me to spend another $2 for each set of staging items…so dumb.

BAD. DO NOT BUY

Bad. Worst most glitchy app ever. DO NOT BUY.

More of a toy

I really wanted to like this app, and it has proved marginally functional at times, but, for any pros looking for a stage plot tool this is simply isnt very useful. The cartoons would be better as an add-on. Please add some simple, useful gear images and line drawings, or at least give is some basic geometric shapes to work with. Also, theres no easy way to incorporate an input list or connection diagram.

Completely worthless

The instruments you get are piano drums and banjo. Maybe a few more.
